In the not so distant future, firefighter Griffin DeSanto has found himself a man out of time, stumbling into a harsh world of poverty, automation, and subjugation. Technology rules and a tech empire built on suffering keeps the population in check through surveillance and mechanized policing. Though lost, Griffin is never alone, he was brought here for a reason, and The Vengeful One is his guide. Conceived by Disturbed with Tim Seeley and Llexi Leon, Dark Messiah features writing by Seeley, the New York Times-bestselling creator of Hack/Slash, interior art by Angel Hernandez (Blade Runner), colors by Fran Gamboa, and covers by Ryan Christensen.
TODD MCFARLANE TO RELEASE BLANK SKETCH COVERS FOR FIRST TIME ON NEW TITLES
Only time this year that blank sketch covers on SPAWN monthly comics will be available
TEMPE, Ariz. 03/18/2022 — Todd McFarlane announces a limited run of blank sketch covers on all four of his monthly comic titles in honor of the 30th anniversary of Spawn and Image Comics. In the months of April and May only, Todd McFarlane will debut blank sketch covers for the first time on three of the newest titles, King Spawn, The Scorched, and Gunslinger Spawn.
Todd McFarlane Productions will not only release a blank sketch cover on the three newest titles, but the regular Spawn monthly comic will also feature a blank sketch cover, which he hasn’t done since the record-breaking Spawn 300 in 2019. To commemorate Spawn #1 being released thirty years ago, McFarlane will also release a special blank sketch cover of Spawn’s inaugural issue. All the above covers will only include logos and pricing.
Before this year, Todd McFarlane has rarely offered these types of covers on the regular Spawn monthly book over the past 30 years. In addition to the traditional white blank sketch cover, McFarlane will release for the first time a black blank sketch cover for each of the four monthly titles too.
This will be the only time in 2022 retailers will be able to purchase these blank sketch covers (black or white versions).
“This will be the first time that anyone will be able to get their hands on blank sketch covers of my three new titles (King Spawn, Gunslinger Spawn and The Scorched). Since the pandemic has been interfering with so many comic conventions across the globe, I wanted to get some of these books into the marketplace for customers who enjoy using these covers to get their favorite artists to do work on them when conventions are back to more regular schedules… or they can send them through the mail for commission work too. It is also a wonderful way to continue celebrating the 30th anniversary of both the very first Spawn comic and the formation of Image Comics itself,” said McFarlane.
